Timber Price Increase

Posted on: December 26th, 2013

I regret to inform everyone that overseas timber producers have just increased their prices without any prior warning, by between 3 and 5%.

I personally consider this announcement has been timed for maximum affect as timber stocks are traditionally at their lowest at this time of year. It will therefore affect all newly arrived stocks, as they will be at the new higher rate, including orders we placed sometime ago.

We will however do everything we can to mitigate the impact on our own prices, but as margins in the construction industry have been incredibly ‘tight’ for some considerable time now, I regret that some increase in price is inevitable.

Further negotiations with our principle suppliers are due to take place very early in the New Year, after which we will be in a position to publish revised price guides and discuss implications with clients on a personal basis. In the interim period we will post any further news on our Facebook Page and here on our website.

With regard to the Christmas holiday, our works are now closed, but will reopen for business on Monday 6th January 2014.
